ABOUT ME
Claire Engkaninan Low, or just Claire Low, is a Sydney-based artist and writer living on Cammeraygal land.
Claire's work connects with themes of horror, sustainability and her identity as an Asian Australian.

As an artist, her artwork 'All Monsters Are Real' won the Reused/Recycled Materials Award in the 2023 Reimagine Art Prize. The same piece, a skateboard deck that imitates a Ming dynasty scroll, was a finalist for the 2023 National Emerging Art Prize – and a finalist in the 2024 North Sydney Art Prize.

Claire's artwork 'Specimens' – 26 miniature paintings of moths and butterflies painted onto entirely reused or recycled materials – won the People's Choice in City of Ryde's Sustainable Waste to Art Prize 2024.

Her painting of a tarot card, referencing a type of ghost character from her culture, won a medal at Conflux 2024.

Claire exhibits work alongside other artists of the Wet Paint Collective around Sydney's Inner West.
As a writer, Claire is an Australasian Shadows nominee for a story titled 'After I Found Her', published in Clan Destine Press' horror anthology This Fresh Hell. This Fresh Hell is among the publisher's spec fic bestsellers. It is nominated for a Ditmar Award for Best Collected Work. The Ditmar Awards recognise the best of Australian sci fi, fantasy and horror.
Another short story, 'I Hope the Night Is Quiet', is published in Castle of Horror Anthology Volume 11: Revenge. The anthology, published by Castle Bridge Media, peaked at number 1 on Amazon's list of new releases in American horror.
